Bamboo – Special Grassland

BAMBOO ALSO BELONGS TO THE FAMILY OF TRUE GRASSES, AND MORE THAN 1.000 SPECIES EXIST. ITS STEMS, REACHING HEIGHTS OF UP TO 40 METERS, REPRESENT THE TALLEST OF ALL GRASSES. BAMBOO THEREFORE HAS THE TALLEST STEM OF ALL GRASSES. THE SHUNAN BAMBOO FOREST IN THE CHINESE PROVINCE OF SICHUAN IS ONE OF THE LARGEST CONTIGUOUS BAMBOO FORESTS ON EARTH.

Reed – Special Grassland

REED IS A WETLAND PLANT AND BELONGS TO THE TRUE GRASSES. IT OCCURS WORLDWIDE IN THREE SUBSPECIES AND FORMS NATURAL MONOCULTURES. THE LARGEST REED AREA IN THE WORLD IS FOUND IN THE DANUBE DELTA, WHERE HUGE FLOATING REED ISLANDS FORM A UNIQUE HABITAT.
